About: Piqle (Platform for Implementing Q-Learning Experiments) is a Java framework for fast design, prototyping and test of reinforcement learning experiments (RL). By clearly separating algorithms and problems, it allows users to focus on either part of the RL paradigm:designing new algorithms or implementing new problems. Piqle implements many classical RL algorithms, making their parameters easily tunable. At this time, 13 problems are implemented, several with one or more variants. The user's manual explains in detail how to code a new problem. Written in Java, Piqle is as platform-independent as Java itself. Its components can easily be embedded as part of complex implementations, like robotics or decision making. Changes:Initial Announcement on mloss.org.

About: In this paper, we propose an improved principal component analysis based on maximum entropy (MaxEnt) preservation, called MaxEnt-PCA, which is derived from a Parzen window estimation of Renyi’s quadratic entropy. Instead of minimizing the reconstruction error either based on L2-norm or L1-norm, the MaxEnt-PCA attempts to preserve as much as possible the uncertainty information of the data measured by entropy. The optimal solution of MaxEnt-PCA consists of the eigenvectors of a Laplacian probability matrix corresponding to the MaxEnt distribution. MaxEnt-PCA (1) is rotation invariant, (2) is free from any distribution assumption, and (3) is robust to outliers. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed linear method as compared to other related robust PCA methods. Changes:Initial Announcement on mloss.org.

About: PCVM library a c++/armadillo implementation of the Probabilistic Classification Vector Machine. Changes:30.10.2015 * code has been revised in some places fixing also some errors different multiclass schemes and hdf5 file support added. Some speed ups and memory savings by better handling of intermediate objects. 27.05.2015: - Matlab binding under Windows available. Added a solution file for VS'2013 express to compile a matlab mex binding. Can not yet confirm that under windows the code is really using multiple cores (under linux it does) 29.04.2015 * added an implementation of the Nystroem based PCVM includes: Nystroem based singular value decomposition (SVD), eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) and pseudo-inverse calculation (PINV) 22.04.2015 * implementation of the PCVM released
